Aug 12-13, 2025. 105 nm in 16 hours. In the morning we took off at 8 AM and went through Hell Gate, using currents as our guide regarding the time, and it was an unremarkable transit other than noting 11 kts of speed while motoring with the current! The trip through Long Island Sound was wonderful -- mostly downwind sailing and surprisingly only rare boat/fishing traffic, mostly collected around the shallower, 25-ft deep areas. Many buoys to keep track of. Although we entered the Thames River in the dark, the inlet was well lighted and buoyed, what with all the Navy and Coast Guard facilities everywhere!
